The rumors of iOS 19 would be the overhaul of the most important user interface since iOS 7, with a design inspired by rationalized visionos for the iPhone. Although I can’t wait to see what these cosmetic changes bring, I am much more interested in the changes that Apple will bring to the functionality of the iPhone.
As a former Android user, it is difficult not to see the influence of Google’s operating system on iOS over the years. But although Apple already brings a ton of Android features on the iPhone, such as default application options and advanced system customizations, there are still a lot of things that Android does better. Here are some software features that Apple must bring to the iPhone.
1. Appropriate audio sharing
Whether I run with a friend or take the metro with them, I like to share the same music queue to synchronize the atmosphere. IOS has long supported audio sharing, but it is limited to airpods and beating headphones. So, my friend should be able to connect his headphones to my iPhone to hear what I listen to, whether or not they use AirPods.
Conversely, my friend’s Android phone should be able to recognize my airpods and broadcast music on the two pairs of headphones at the same time. It is a typical restriction of the Apple ecosystem designed to promote the company’s own devices. And, even if I am fully invested in Apple products, the retrograde limitation my experience when a friend opts for a different brand. It is irritating, because there are no obvious technological constraints that prevent Apple from raising functionality for all parties involved.
On Android phones, users can share the audio whatever the earphones they use.

2. Real multitasking
There is a good return when I used to vibrate a Samsung Galaxy Note II with a 5.5 -inch screen, one of the practical features on which I actively relied was the shared screen view, which allowed me to operate two applications at the same time. Although I agree that smartphone screens are relatively small for multitasking, you must sometimes open two side -side applications for a quick reference.
Today, Apple sells 6.9 -inch iPhones with processors several times faster than the Exynos chip from the Galaxy Note II. However, due to its complex philosophy, Apple refuses to bring a divided view or even to slide towards iOS. At the very least, I want iOS 19 to take care of the floating chat bubbles of Android style so that we can quickly open, respond and reject cats in levitation while performing other tasks.
3. A better keyboard
While the iPhone supports a wide variety of third -party keyboards, none of them probably works as well as the one delivered with your iPhone, and it is high time that Apple has added functionalities late to its original keyboard. The main thing that I miss about my Android phone is the integrated clipboard, which allows you to store several extracts of copied information, such as text and images, so that you can stick them in applications if necessary. Meanwhile, iOS always limits its users to a single copied element, which is annoying for all the simplest uses, and a simple software update can solve this problem. And while we are there, an optional number line for the default keyboard has been expected for a long time.
4. Always personal display
Apple has finally removed most channels from the home screen, lock screen and control center, allowing users to customize them in all kinds. Despite this, however, the display function always continues to simply reflect the same configuration on the lock screen. Although you can customize it in a very basic way, like deactivating the wallpaper and hiding the notifications, you cannot do much else to personalize it alone.
Meanwhile, most Android phone brands allow users to design views always from scratch, allowing them to add unique widgets according to their needs. For example, on Samsung Galaxy phones, users can change the clock, add their own wallpaper, define their own widgets and Memos pine for quick access. I would love to be able to do the same on my iPhone.
The options for the display always on the iPhone are very limited.

In the era of the powerful AI systems, Apple obviously has no idea what it does in this area. While Apple Intelligence is still struggling to provide the most basic promises, the manufacturers of Android phones offer their customers impressive IA advantages with integrated chatbots and powerful image creation tools.
With iOS 19, Apple must take a more adventurous path and explore integrations of deeper AI. Assuming that the new Siri arrives in September, the future update must go further with the way Apple Intelligence integrates on the phone – Android already has things like an integrated wallpaper generator, real -time conversations with live Gemini live and tools for manipulating advanced photos, so Apple has a lot of catch -up to do.

With iOS 18, Apple tried to repair its notification mess based on AI. Apple intelligence can scan alerts, summarize them, surface priority and filter the rest. Although it is undoubtedly a step forward, it does not really solve the underlying basic problem.
This is not the first time that Apple has been trying to repair the notifications, but the solution is just under its nose: Android channels, which divide the notifications into granular categories which can be activated individually. This would provide users with greater control on the alerts they receive and would only leave important things.
The iPhone finally allows RCS, but Apple does not make it transparent.

7. RCS that works with everyone
Apple has raised SMS with RCS support in iOS 18, which has brought iMessage features such as reading receipts, high quality media, and even more to green-bubble conversations. However, unlike Google, Apple adopted an approach dependent on operators, forcing the two service providers to take care of it in order to send and receive RCS messages.
While the majority of relevant American carriers are now compatible with the RCS, international markets are still far behind. Thus, even if your carrier supports the protocol, you will still not be able to obtain the advantages of the RCS during most of your international friends. Apple could remedy it by directing the Android path and unloading service in its cloud infrastructure, but it clearly indicated that it would not. Instead, we are stuck with a lower service.
8. Estimate of the charging time
Android users know exactly when their phones will reach 100% for years, and we hoped that Apple is publishing a similar feature this year. A beta iOS 18.2 hidden functionality revealed that Apple works on a new feature called Battery Intelligence which considers how long it will take the battery of the iPhone to load entirely depending on the remaining battery and the charger used. However, he did not appear in iOS 18.2, 18.3 or 18.4, and does not seem to be part of iOS 18.5.
Since Apple has not officially announced the functionality as part of iOS 18, it is difficult to predict when or if it will really materialize, but we hope it will arrive in iOS 19. But Apple has clearly noticed the Android phones which offer a similar advantage for years, and I hope that Apple will be right when iOS 19 iOS 19.
When you charge an Android phone, you know how long it will take – this is not the case with iOS.

9. Application cache management
It is a niche niche, but something that I remember affectionately about my Galaxy Mini is the frequency to which I have erased the cache from certain applications due to the limited storage of the phone. While new iPhones now offer at least 128 GB of storage, the erasure of the cache of an application can always be useful.
For example, the Threads on iOS application occupies less than 100 MB of storage for the application itself, but its cache data on my phone exceeded 3 GB. The only way to recover this large disc part is to delete the application and reinstall it. However, this also zaps everything you can have personalized or stored rather than simply purge unnecessary content. A simple “Clear Cache” button in the iOS 19 storage settings solve this problem.
