A few years ago, Apple published its first interpretation of the journalization with the newspaper application. As a user eager for notes, including for journalization, I decided to try it. Although I instantly understand this application in terms of confidentiality, first, was focused on deeper thoughts, self-reflection and part of another effort to help users get in touch with their feelings throughout the day, I also felt that it was too limited.
In the following years, the company began to make better forecasts when I would really like to write something, send me notifications to think after a long training, meet my friends or visit a new place, which was very pleasant.
However, there have been some missing features for the application that prevented me from returning there for weeks at a time, then giving it another chance, and inevitably forgets the application again after that. With the first public beta iOS 26 now, I decided that I could give it another chance.
4 ways in which Apple has improved the newspaper application in iOS 26
There are several reasons why I want to return to journalization with iOS 26. You could have a different experience, but first of all, what I like most is how it is inviting to write about the application. Having grown up as a teenager obsessed with Tumblr, it also made me appreciate the aesthetic applications, which the Apple Journal is all
With iOS 26, I can finally separate my reflections from the late evening thoughts, my personal ideas and other entries. After all, sometimes you just want to think about a good training or a nice evening with friends, and you don’t want to remember how close you are. Yikes. Another interesting feature is that Apple extends the newspaper application to Mac and iPad. Although I mainly use my Mac to work, there are times when I take a few minutes to record a thought or something similar on my iPhone. Now I can do it on one of my favorite platforms.
In addition to that, Apple makes the newspaper application more interesting by offering the possibility of adding images and adding a new card view showing the entries according to their location. “Oh, wow, I had mental depression in London”, “I was really happy in Paris” or “I remember how Rio I miss.” I cannot confirm or deny that these are thoughts I have had, but these are new interesting ways to use the Journal application.
Think about your day with the newspaper application
Jokes apart, the Apple Journal application is one of the most interesting ways of the journal because it is the owner option of Apple. You can already lock it behind the authentication of the facial identification, so you don’t have to worry about someone who reads your deeper thoughts on a server or if you lose your iPhone. You don’t even have to synchronize your newspaper entries from your iPhone to your iPad or Mac. You can hold completely different intimate newspapers in these devices, which can be useful if you share your device (like iPad) with more than one person.
IPhone, iPad and Mac users can take advantage of these new newspaper features in iOS 26, iPados 26 and MacOS Tahoe thanks to the recently published public beta of Apple. These software updates should be published later this fall to all users. We will continue to discuss all the latest iOS 26 features, hidden secrets, and more, while we continue to test them.
