Google ‘Magic picked will read your screen to provide useful suggestions

The Google Pixel 10 series is launched in just over three weeks, but as usual, a lot of information has already disclosed on this subject. We previously reported one of its largest new features: a powerful contextual assistant from AI called Pixel Sense. Last month, alleged screenshots of the assistant were disclosed, revealing that she could start under a different name. Anyway, it is clear that Google is working on a sort of new AI assistant, and the latest Android Canary Build corroborates this.

As we reported earlier this year, Pixel Sense is designed to use data from several Google applications and services – such as Calendar, Chrome, Docs, Files, Gmail, Messages, Photos and YouTube – to provide relevant predictive suggestions. For example, the assistant could suggest places, products or names when you need them. He would also learn your user models to help you do tasks and routines faster and adapt to your interests by learning which subjects are important to you. Pixel Sense would accomplish all this while keeping your data entirely available, ensuring that it remains private.

Last month, leaks published alleged screenshots of the assistant, revealing that the functionality could be called “Magic Cue” during the launch. The screenshots offered more details, noting that the wizard collects data use data, the activity of the recent screen and certain data from the Google application to offer personalized suggestions. He does it to “show you useful details and time reduction actions according to the application you use”. For example, “if a friend asks for your flight number in a cat, Magic Cue can find it from your Gmail – saving you the search.”

By searching in the second Android Canary version that Google published last week, we spotted a new code in the Systemui application which corroborates these previous leaks. The code adds an alert that informs the user how to use the functionality for the first time. The alert is entitled “Get useful suggestions” and it is delivered with a description that reads you can “touch and maintain” the alert to “see how the suggestions are generated”, which probably brings you to the configuration page for Magic Cue.

The real magic signature function is not contained in the Systemui application, so there is no way for us to demonstrate it. Everything we have is these chains that alludes to it.

Interestingly, the names of chain resources refer to functionality as “ambient signal” instead of “magic cue”, and one of the channels describing the alert icon (for reasons of accessibility) describes it as “ambient suggestions”. Google’s code names for features often do not correspond to their names on the public, because they are generally finalized much closer to the launch. It is likely that the functionality will always be called “Magic Cue” during its beginnings, but we will have to wait a few weeks to confirm that it is.
