The seventh generation of Samsung’s seventh generation phone cuts the fat, earns a larger blanket screen outside and a larger folding screen inside, but fundamentally does not reinvent the wheel.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 joins the Syle of the Book Z Fold 7 as the flagship folding phones of Samsung for 2025. Like its predecessors, the largest argument of sale of the flip is that it takes one of the largest screens of a Samsung and folds it in half for a size more suitable for the pocket.
Cost from £ 1,049 (€ 1,199 / $ 1,099 / $ 1,799), it is similar to the price of S25 + and super thin S25 edge, but with a slightly larger screen.
Flip 7 is slightly larger and wider than its predecessor to accommodate the 6.9 -inch larger interior display. It is also thinner than Flip 6 by 1.2 mm when folded, but you would find it difficult to notice the difference, unlike the change in transformation given to fold 7 this year.
The new larger coverage screen on the outside fills the upper half of the Flip 7 surrounding the cameras and the LED flash. He is able to adapt to more text notifications and widgets exposed, but it also seems much better than predecessors. Choose a good wallpaper and it looks beautiful, especially in the dark metallic blue color.
Flip 7 has a hardened glass outside, but the internal screen is always covered with a necessarily softer layer that collects fingerprints, suffers from dazzling and can be easily marked. This requires more care than an ordinary slab phone. Flip is water resistant but not dust resistant, so it must be kept away from the fine particles which could erase its hinge.

Fast and catchy, but a bit short on battery life
Flip 7 has a Samsung Exynos 2500 chip, which is a high -end processor similar to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 elite used in the rest of the Samsung flagship telephone line. He will not win raw performance prices, but day by day, he made Flip 7 felt quickly with solid gaming experience, even if the phone was hot enough during prolonged sessions.
The battery life is slightly below the predecessors of the flip which last approximately 36 hours between the loads while being on a mixture of 5G and wifi and actively using the screen for about six hours. This roughly corresponds to the smallest S25 model and means that Flip 7 will see a day for heavy use with most people who need to load it every evening. Note that a prolonged use on 5G had a higher drain on the battery than Samsung phones equipped with Qualcomm.
A UI 8
Flip 7 is one of the first Samsung phones, alongside the Z Fold 7, to run an IU 8 (Android 16) out of the box. This is one of the best versions of available Android offering deep customization and solid performance.
It resembles and behaves a lot as software on the standard S25 line, including various AI tools through writing, editing and generation of images, transcription and translation, etc. He also has Google AI services, notably Gemini and Circle to search. The NOW bar is great, showing activities currently underway such as sports scores, reading music, timers, alarms and other bits.
Flip 7 has additional tools to use the form of folding. The useful Flex mode moves the content, the site or the application to the upper half of the screen and puts commands on the lower half when you fold the flip into a L -shaped shape.
It also has several tools to use the outdoor screen. You can display notifications, answer texts, control music or system settings, access various widgets, including a voice recorder and a calculator, and talk to the Gemini without opening the phone. A handful of applications such as Google Maps, Messages, WhatsApp, Netflix and YouTube can also be opened on the outdoor screen. But to use other applications on the cover screen, you have to download the Samsung multi plugin from the Galaxy Store, which is quite simple but should be a default function.
Samsung will provide Android and security updates until July 31, 2032.
Camera
The camera is one of the lowest areas of Flip 7. It has a 50 megapixel main camera and an ultra -wide 12MP camera on the cover screen and a 10MP selfie camera inside.
The selfie camera is ok but not great, suffering in low light but perfectly well for video calls. Instead, you get much better results using the main camera for selfies with the cover screen as a viewfinder.
The main camera takes superb photos outside and in good light, with a lot of details and united colors, but can be a little dark, gray and grainy inside or in difficult lighting conditions. The ultra-large camera is decent for landscapes but fights in the lower light parameters.
The camera has a lot of fun modes, including the possibility of taking photos and videos partially folded like a Old -fashioned handycam Or supported for hands -free selfies.
Overall, Flip 7 takes decent photos, but its cameras are not entirely tied with what you get on standard flagship phones.
Sustainability
The battery has an expected lifespan of at least 2,000 full load cycles with at least 80% of its original capacity.
The phone is generally repairable. Interior screen repairs cost approximately £ 294. Samsung offers a self-repair program, as well as accidental care + insurance damage which reduces the cost of repairs to £ 119.
Flip 7 is made of recycled aluminum, cobalt, copper, glass, gold, lithium, plastic, rare earth and steel elements, representing 18.2% of the weight. Samsung offers trade and recycling programs for old devices, and breaks down the environmental impact of the phone in its report (PDF).
Price
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 costs from £ 1,049 (€ 1,199 / $ 1,099 / $ 1,799).
For comparison, the Z Fold 7 costs £ 1,799, the S25 EDGE costs £ 1,099, the S25 + costs £ 999, the Z Flip 7 Fe costs £ 849, the Motorola Raze 60 Ultra costs £ 1,099 and the Flip Xiaomi mixes costs £ 640.
Verdict
Flip 7 is the most attractive Samsung’s most attractive, but the largest upgrade is the largest coverage screen outside.
The rest of the phone is quite similar to its predecessors. The internal folding display is excellent, but soft and needs care. The fingerprint scanner in the food button is fantastic, but is placed a little too high on the side of the phone. The cameras are decent but not up to the same regular flagship phones standards, while the battery life is a bit short. The software is great and comes with seven years of updates. But all of this seems very iterative.
Flip 7 is always the best way to adapt to a large screen in a small pocket, but it screams for the type of transformational redesign given to its biggest fold 7 brothers this year.
Benefits: Larger exterior screen, large large screen that folds in half, IP48 water resistant, excellent software with seven years of updates, many AI features, attractive design, pleasure.
Disadvantages: Dear, less durable than an ordinary and expensive phone to repair, no dust resistance, the camera lacks zoom telephoto lens and not to equalize with regular flagship phones, not a major update.
