Tl; DR

  • Google Keep is starting to deploy a new sorting feature in its Android application.
  • You can now sort the notes by personalized order, date created or date of the modified date.
  • The update seems to be deployed in version 5.25.302.02.90, but it may not yet be widely available.

Google Keep is one of those applications that does not change too often, but when it does, updates are generally worth a wait. Now Google seems to deploy a long -awaited sorting function at its Android application, offering some users a much easier way to organize their notes.

A user on X (@ Blindman199) I first invoked us that the new sorting option had appeared, and we were able to check that it is available on at least one of our devices, but not all. This suggests that it is a limited deployment for the moment, but could develop more widely in the coming days or weeks.

If you have the functionality, you will see a new sorting icon inside the search bar at the top of the main screen, as illustrated in the screenshots above. The tapping opens a context menu at the bottom which gives you three different ways to sort your notes:

  • Custom: Allows you to manually slide notes in any command;
  • Date created: Showing notes in the order you have made them originally;
  • Modified date: Most recently published on top.

Keep has always allowed manual rearrangement and pinned notes, but apart from this, your list was blocked in the reverse chronological order. For anyone juggling a large number of notes, these new options could make a big difference. The functionality was spotted in development some time ago, but it is the first time that it has been available in nature. It appears in version 5.25.302.02.90 of the application.

Google has not officially announced deployment or if it is linked to specific devices, accounts or regions. If you do not yet see the sorting icon in Google, you may have to wait a little longer.
