Apple confirmed that GPT-5, the latest OPENAI IA model, will be integrated into Apple Intelligence very soon. The company said 9TO5MAC that the new model will be included in iOS 26,, iPados 26MacOS Tahoe and other updates, which should currently be deployed this fall. Confirmation comes after Openai wound the successor to the GPT-4, which promises substantial upgrades while the company continues to dominate the market with Chatgpt.
GPT-5 will be the pilot behind certain Apple intelligence features for which Apple does not have its own models, such as visual intelligence to identify things around you and specific web research. In iOS 26, Apple has confirmed that this would add things like live translation for real-time conversations in different languages, visual intelligence on screen and image game image updates, which will be based on Chatgpt and the new GPT-5 model to operate.
Some of the biggest upgrades that GPT-5 includes, such as a better atmosphere coding and fewer hallucinations than ever, will not be very important in Apple intelligences. Rather, you can experience them in the official Chatgpt application, which obtains GPT-5 support for all free users from this week.
Until the software updates of iOS 26 and Apple 2026, Apple Intelligence will continue to rely on GPT-4O. Hopefully the new model will also bring performance improvements to help push Apple Intelligence, which has been riddled with quality problems since its announcement.
Apple should announce the official deployment date for iOS 26, iPados 26, MacOS Tahoe, and even more during its rumor Iphone 17 event on September 9. Stay listening for more – we closely follow these rumors.
