How I activated the wireless Android car on my kia sertos

Since Verna, Alcazar, Creta and Seltos all have the same infotainment unit, if the adapter could operate on an Alcazar, it would also work on a Seltos & Creta

Kia Seltos: Auto -free Android

Thus, as we all know, one of the greatest drawbacks of the Kia Seltos infotainment system was the absence of the Android and wireless Android carplay. Although there were rumors that there was a software update to activate them on existing infotainment units, all proved to be false starts. This was the case for all the flagship products of Hyundai & Kia; Whether Hyundai Verna, Kia Seltos or the powerful Hyundai Creta. An interesting thing is that the lower variants of these models have Android Auto & Carplay wireless, but the high -end variants have missed it.

There have been spare solutions in the form of wireless adapters available for this problem. But with nameless Chinese brands, the reliability, appearance and longevity of these solutions have always been questionable. A solution supported by OEM would always provide a measure of confidence in the form of warranty support.

Thus, recently, Hyundai-MOBIS introduced a Hyundai brand and carplay Android for the Hyundai Alcazar model. In fact, nowadays, Hyundai includes this Hyundai brand adapter in its Verna & Alcazar models. Since Verna, Alcazar, Creta and Seltos all have the same infotainment unit, if the adapter could operate on an Alcazar, it would also work on a Seltos & Creta.

So, after a little struggle, I managed to buy the Hyundai wireless adapter from a local Hyundai dealership. Due to the popularity of this adapter with Creta and Verna customers, they were difficult to find, but I managed to hang one.

The device itself is of Hyundai brand and the outdoor case is very well done. The outdoor case is not a cheap plastic but in solid anodized aluminum and feels heavy and durable by hand. Much better than cheaper plastic envelopes like those available on Amazon.

Connected to the USB-A port of my Seltos, it adapts well and looks in stock. Once connected, a screen appears with instructions on how to connect via Bluetooth. Combine it with your phone and voila! Android Auto / Carplay appears.

I took it on a short trip by decent car and it worked perfectly. No discrepancy, no disconnections at all. Music, telephone calls all work as expected.

My phone is a Pixel 9 Pro XL & Wireless Android Auto did not warmer it much. (I have the experience of using the wireless Android car on another of my cars; a Hyundai Verna with a pioneer DMH-Z6350BT replacement infotainment unit and performance and heating were similar.) If you use an older Android phone, you could feel a little more heating than the most recent phone models.

Note, the use of Wireless Android Auto / Carplay & Wireless Charge is not recommended for longer discs (not only in Kia / Hyundai but on cars of any other brand) because phones would generate heat. Use the carplay / Android wireless car on the wireless charger for shorter travel only. For longer trips, you would better use integrated navigation (MAP My India, which I found good for my use) or use a wired connection.

So, in short, for approximately RS 4499, this Hyundai adapter is an excellent option to add Android Auto & Carplay wirelessly to your Seltos which seem and feel OEM and with an OEM warranty of one year.
