IOS 26 could be remembered for its liquid glass overhaul, but the update will also add two new applications to the home screen of your iPhone. This is what happens.
# 1: Apple Games application
The game on the iPhone is a new central center in iOS 26.
“ Apple Games ” is a whole new application that joins the ranks of other iPhone applications focused on media such as:
- Apple TV
- Music apple
- Apple podcasts
- Apple books
The new game application includes a home view where you will spend most of your time. Here is the description of Apple:
The Home tab keeps you connected to the games you like, recommends new games and facilitates jumps in all your favorites. Browse the events cannot miss your games and get personalized suggestions for what to play afterwards.
The tabs are to join Home for Arcade, play together and library.
- Arcade largely reproduced the type of content you would see in the Arcade tab of the App Store.
- Play together Displays the challenges, multiplayer options and data from the game center of your friends.

Apple Games is launching not only on iPhone, but also iPad and Mac this fall.
# 2: Overview application
The preview may seem familiar – this is the name of Apple’s long -standing Mac utility to display and modify PDF and images.
In iOS 26, the preview arrives on the iPhone (and iPad) for the very first time.
Overview offers a dedicated application to display PDF and images recorded in iCloud, on your device or other file application sources.
The features include:
- Browse PDF and images in a dedicated application
- Modification of PDFs and images with tools such as resizing, rotation and more
- Docuum digitization
- Autofill PDF
- Creation of new images, whether from zero or the clipboard
Just like the Mac Finder launches PDF and the images in the default, now your application of iPhone and iPad files will launch these types of documents in the preview.
Overview uses the new document browser user interface introduced for the first time in iPados 18 and seen in other applications such as pages, keynote and numbers. So this will not look like the Mac application, but the functionality is very similar.
New applications in iOS 26: wrap
With Apple Games and overview, Apple again widens the number of applications integrated on an iPhone.
Games seek to capitalize on the iPhone already a popular game platform for many, while the preview looks like a precious additional utility. The two applications reproduce many features previously found elsewhere, but also add new features and resemble natural candidates for new autonomous applications.
