Artificial intelligence companies in the health care sector say that their products, such as ambient scribes, can help doctors reduce administrative tasks and allow them to spend more time taking care of their patients. The ambient scribes use AI to record the visit of a patient’s doctor, document it, then enter the details of the conversation in the patient’s electronic health file. But as my colleague from Stat Brittany Trang points out in a new story, the use of these AI scribes can lead to higher medical bills.
