Google has deployed a more advanced screenshot editing experience on the Pixel Executing Android 16 QPR2 Pixel 16 QPR2. Now, when you change a screenshot, it opens directly in the Pixel Studio application, which offers a larger range of publishing tools compared to the standard screen editor in Google Photos, including AI modification.
The functionality was first identified by Omar Tosca telegram userWho also shared a demonstration video of how it works with us (see above). Once you have captured a screenshot, press the Pixel Studio edition button instead of the usual editor. From there, you can refer the image, highlight specific areas or even select part of the screenshot for AI modifications. Once an area of the screenshot is selected, you can simply describe the change you want and the AI applies. In Tosca’s video, for example, ask AI to change the colors work instantly. However, the AI has erased all the text from the cat screenshot and transformed it into a random block of colors. The option is currently appearing with an “overview” label, which could explain why it worked as it did.
Beyond the AI edition, Pixel Studio also allows you to add subtitles to your screenshots, draw with a pen, create stickers, highlight the content using a resident highlighter, and more.

It should be noted that you will need version 2.0.001.793728176.12-Liberation of the Pixel Studio application for this to work. When we tested it on Android 16 QPR2 Beta 1 with an old version of Pixel Studio, the screenshots made by default the standard editor instead of Pixel Studio. It should also be noted that the above video has been recorded on a Pixel 9 Pro performing the new QPR.
