Apple announced the next iOS 26 software for iPhone on June 9, 2025, with a rediced liquid glass look and a multitude of new features. These additions include live translations, a visual search fueled by AI, a new game application and better security, and you can read these new features here.
Almost just after the announcement of the update, Apple launched a beta program for developers and first adopters. Since then, we have seen even more upgrades added to the iOS 26 which were not mentioned during the announcement.
With a complete deployment of iOS 26 expected in September, to coincide with the launch of the iPhone 17, here are all the new important features that Apple added during the beta phase – and which will soon come to your iPhone.
Carplay wallpapers: Carplay is an extension of iOS which extends the telephone interface familiar to the head unit of your car, and Apple used the beta iOS 26 version to deploy CarPlay wallpapers which correspond to the iPhone wallpapers of the new look.
Control center: Among the liquid glass refinements added to iOS 26 During the beta program, the various elements of the control center were made more readable while the company continues to aim for the balance between aesthetics and the features.
Products in messages: Before now, if you started a text, you did not finish in the messages app, it was not easy to find. IOS 26 sums up this by introducing a dedicated draft dossier.
Dynamic wallpaper: Like iOS 18 before him, iOS 26 added a dynamic wallpaper option during the beta version, so that the color of the backdrop of your iPhone can slowly change during the day.
Liquid glass adjustments: iOS 26 seems very different from iOS 18, and this look was continuously changed during the beta version, including more transparency on the locking screen.
Live radio widget: There is no shortage of widgets with the iOS 26 update, because a new live radio widget is attached to the Apple Music application so that you can put on your home screen.
Low battery alert: It is always useful to know when the battery of your iPhone is low, and iOS 26 adds a low battery redesigned on the dynamic island at the top of the screen.
More wallpapers: In addition to adding a dynamic wallpaper option (see above), the betas have also added more color variations for the new default wallpaper for iOS 26.
New ringtones: A bunch of new ringtones give you more options for incoming calls, including variations on the default reflection ringtone, and a new one called Little Bird.
Summary of notifications: The notification summaries for news and entertainment applications were withdrawn in January while Apple refined them, but they make a return to iOS 26.
Performance improvements: iOS 26 has continued to improve and feel more snapust over time, which means that you should not notice any slowdown when you install it.
Personalized weather: You can now choose to give the weather application access to the list of places you often visit by your iPhone, for more personalized weather forecasts.
Oxygen monitoring of Apple Watch Redessed Blood: Apple brings back blood oxygen to the Apple Watch, but this time, the functionality will work mainly on the iPhone. You can recover this feature in the United States with a Watch Series 9, Series 10 or Ultra 2.
Restore your iPhone: Apple has now facilitated the restoration of your iPhone without the need for a Windows or MacOS computer, in order to rationalize the troubleshooting process.
Silence Callers Unknown: When calls from unknown numbers reach iOS 26, they can be silenced by default, or authorized to ring as usual, or that the appellant may be invited to more details before making the call. This is part of the projection of calls in the telephone application.
Add all the bug corrections that Apple has deployed in the past two months, and iOS 26 is almost ready to leave. Expect an ad on a wide availability when the launch of the iPhone 17 occurs, which should be in the first or second week of September.
