When is iOS 26?
IOS 26 launches on Monday September 15, according to an apple press release.
A new look: liquid glass
One of the most notable features of iOS 26 is Liquid Glass, a new user interface design on Apple devices. The design offers clear and more fluid elements. For example, with an activated liquid glass, users can keep their home screen apps as normal or modify them to appear translucent, displaying the background image.
Liquid glass also has more dynamic controls. In several applications, including Apple Music, users can slide their finger to change between screens or features, rather than tapping individually.
Liquid glass is available on eligible iPhones, iPads and Apple watches.
New features that deserve to be known
IOS 26 has several other new features, some of which were supplied by Apple Intelligence. Here is a ventilation of a few keys:
Live translation
Live translation uses artificial intelligence to translate text messages, telephone calls and facetime calls on iPads, iPads and Apple watches, according to the Apple website.
In messages, live translation is available in Chinese (simplified), English (United Kingdom and the United States), French (France), German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish (Spain), according to the Apple website. For telephone calls and FaceTime, functionality can translate English (United Kingdom and the United States), French (France), German, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish (Spain).
Live translation is also available with Apple’s latest AirPods model: Airpods Pro 3. A user carrying the headphones can allow live translation in the natural world around them. For example, if a user travels and is around people who speak a different language, the new AirPods will listen to the dialogue that surrounds them and will translate it in almost real time.
Live translation also works upside down. A user bearing AirPods Pro 3 can speak in his mother tongue, then the headphones will result in the language chosen by speech or text on the attached iPhone.
New call and text features
The software update has several new calls for telephone and SMS, including calling for calls. When a user receives a telephone call from an unknown number, the iPhone automatically answers the phone and asks the appellant a name and a reason to call, which is then translated to the user, who may decide to withdraw the call or not. In the same vein, the messages Filter Text messages from unknown numbers in a different folder.
IOS 26 also offers Hold Assist. When activated, Hold Assist keeps the place of an online appeller with a live agent and informs a user when the call is ready for them, according to the Apple website.
Finally, iOS 26 users will have a survey functionality of new looks in the messages application and will modify text messages in a photo design or predefined from an Apple library.
Most of these features are available on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
Intuitive cards
Do you use Apple cards to get to work, school or a common destination? With iOS 26, the application uses artificial intelligence to learn the favorite routes of a user, providing updates on delays before a user takes the road, according to the Apple website.
Apple Maps also offers a new category of placed location, which highlights restaurants, stores and other destinations that a user has previously visited.
Passport storage in the Apple wallet
Apple Wallet, which allows users to store digital debit and credit cards, concert tickets, plane boarding passes and more, now allows users to store their passports with iOS 26.
Organize the iPad screen as an office with several windows
While most iOS 26 features go to the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, some devices see unique updates, including a flocking system for the iPad. This update allows iPad users to open several windows on the screen, similar to a computer desk.
