Chrome for Android can now read web pages aloud like a podcast

Last week, Martin wrote on the features of Chrome Gaining IA propelled by Gemini. There is a new AI feature that exceeds Chrome on Android, an option read aloud that tells web pages like a podcast.

The functionality was spotted by Android authority‘S Mishaal Rahman. Google has been working on features fueled by AI for some time now, audio previews are available in research, documents, but especially in Notebooklm. He uses gemini models to generate podcasts for in -depth research subjects. It seems that Google wants to go further and bring it to people’s daily life, in their browser.

Chrome on Android already has a high -aloud functionality, which is essentially an accessibility option. You can use it by pressing the three -point menu button (when you are on a web page) and select “Listen to this page”. But this narration is robotic and rather boring. The same option, listen to this page, wins a new button in the lower left corner. The tapping on this button generates an AI reading like a podcast with two AI hosts, which you can listen to, as well as in Notebooklm. You can again press the button to deactivate AI playback and use the ordinary voice text mode.

Google began to test this feature in June 2025 in Chrome’s Canary Channel, and now carries it to the stable version of the browser. The audio overview in Chrome for Android would be available in version 140.0.7339.124. I do not have access to it, the functionality would be deployed slowly to users.

If he reads the whole page as a podcast instead of reading a short summary of the web page, it’s good feature, right? Anything that helps with reading without summary gets my vote. This could be very useful for moments when you don’t want to read the text yourself, especially if an article made several pages. Confidentiality on the other hand, well, if it could be a concern, unless the browser generates reading locally on the device.
