iOS Developer 26.1 Beta 2 Now Available for iPhone Users
iOS 26.1 Beta 2 for developers rolled out this week, giving more refinements and improvements for iPhone users that will be available soon with the public beta. Apple also appears to have returned some of the earlier changes to its default state which could be related to feedback from developers and beta testers.
The liquid glass design continues to divide opinions and gives you the feeling that Apple doesn’t know how transparent the interface needs to be in order for it to line up with the buttons and icons.
Beta 2 iOS 26.1 Update: What iPhone Users Get
There are design tweaks and functional changes you’ll notice. One of them is the new way to stop the alarm and timers by swiping across the screen, which is what you did for calls earlier. It’s not exactly a useful change, in fact, making the swipe to turn off the alarm even more annoying. So we hope that the iOS 26.2 public beta doesn’t get it or even the full version.
In addition to this, iOS 26.1 Beta 2 makes it easier to control the external mic which you can now access directly from the Control Center. You can also ensure that recorded audio files are stored locally in the correct folder with mics connected.
There are UI changes spotted by macrumors, which claim the app folder titles as well as settings headers have now moved slightly to the left and the interface also gets minor changes for refinements.
The new beta version does not address some of the issues faced by iPhone 17 users which have been fixed using the new iOS 26.0.1 update for these users. There are no security bug fixes packed inside the update which suggests Apple might still be working on it behind the scenes.

iOS version 26 is compatible with iPhone 11 and later, as well as iPhone SE 2nd generation and later. You get the iOS 26 update out of the box with the new iPhone 17 models and the iPhone Air while Apple AI support is available if you have the iPhone 15 Pro models or later.

We expect the iOS 26.1 public release to be available in the coming weeks via an over-the-air update from the company.
