If you feel like you’re making more typos on your iPhone lately, you’re not alone. Indeed, a new bug in iOS is causing frustration among iPhone users, as many suddenly make many more typos than usual. At first people thought they were just being careless, but reports now confirm that it is a software issue affecting Apple’s keyboard.
On the iOS subreddit, a user complained about typing issues after updating to iOS 26, saying they were suddenly making “stupid typos” and noticed the spacebar sometimes didn’t register. They also said that typing was less accurate overall. Another user mentioned typing seems choppy or slow after updating to iOS 26, especially when writing longer messages.
iOS bug causes typos – it may not be your fault
Michi, a user on X, recently drew attention to the problemsaying: “If you’re making more typos in iOS lately, you’re not going crazy – it’s a bug in iOS that causes the keyboard to randomly insert the wrong letter instead of what you typed. » They also shared a slow-motion video, which clearly shows that the keyboard sometimes does not register the correct letters.
So far, it’s clear that the problem isn’t caused by autocorrect or user error, but rather a keyboard input bug in the latest iOS update. Some users also report that the keyboard sometimes lags or freezes for a moment, resulting in delayed or repeated letters. iOS 26 is available for the latest iPhone 17 series, the new iPhone Air, and up to the iPhone 11 series and iPhone SE (2022 and 2020 models).

At the moment, Apple has not officially acknowledged the problem and there is no official solution. However, based on past issues, it’s likely that Apple will fix it in a future iOS update once the bug receives more attention. In the meantime, users experiencing the issue can try some temporary solutions, like restarting their phone, disabling predictive text, resetting the keyboard dictionary, or switching to a third-party keyboard.
