Gboard has introduced some significant changes to the app over the past few weeks, making typing on the app much easier than ever. You can now resize the keyboard to whatever size you want, and there’s even something in the works that will make adding apostrophes to your text even more seamless.
If all that wasn’t enough, the app is now introducing a feature that some will find peculiar, which will allow users to remove the period and common punctuation keys from Gboard. This news comes to us from 9to5Googlesharing that it’s now an option with the latest version of the app.
A new look that might please some
As you can imagine, this is a big deal, considering that punctuation marks are essential during a text conversation. Although this setting is not enabled by default, you can access the settings menu to disable the period and comma keys from appearing.
These settings are independent, so if you want to disable just one, or the other, or even both, it’s entirely possible. There’s a valid argument for disabling the period key, which can be enabled on Gboard by pressing the space key twice at the end of a sentence. But there’s no quick way to insert the comma into sentences without pressing the key itself.
Naturally, there must be a reason for this change, and those who don’t need these keys in Gboard will appreciate the ability to remove them. According to 9to5Google, this change is available in the stable and beta versions of the latest Gboard app.
As stated earlier, this is just an option, so if you want to keep things as is, you can type as you normally would without any changes. But if you want to add a cleaner look to your Gboard app, you can now remove the period and comma if you choose to do so.
