Apple released the first beta of iOS 26.2 this week, with changes for Apple News, Apple Podcasts, Liquid Glass, and more.
It turns out that iOS 26.2 also brings a big improvement to Apple Music: Offline lyrics support.
Apple first added lyrics to Apple Music in 2016. The functionality has improved significantly since then, adding features like search, live lyrics, karaoke mode, lyric translations, and more. However, supporting lyric access has always required a data connection, whether Wi-Fi or cellular.
As spotted by Apple Music users on RedditHowever, iOS 26.2 finally changes that. Now you can take full advantage of Apple Music’s advanced lyrics features, even offline.
It’s a common functionality request among Apple Music users for years, so it’s remarkable that Apple responded.
Why would anyone need Apple Music lyrics offline? Maybe you’re somewhere without connectivity, like on an airplane, and want to follow the lyrics to a new song or album. This feature will also be useful in areas where you may have a few service, but not enough to really do anything.
Previously, Apple Music lyrics simply wouldn’t appear in these situations.
However, adding offline lyrics to Apple Music is, above all, a quality of life improvement. You might not notice it right away, but you’ll be glad it’s there when the need arises. This also gives Apple Music another advantage over Spotify, which requires a network connection to access lyrics.
