The office mode arrives on Android, the disclosed source code suggests

A recent report based on a disclose source code suggests that Google is preparing a desktop mode function similar to the Samsung and Motorola Smart Connect Smart Connect interface. In fact, the first traces of an office mode were found in 2023, but it seems that Google is closer to the functionality of functionality.

It seems that the user interface needs more polishing, and it is unlikely that it arrives with Android 16. We will most likely see it be launched with Android 17 on new generation pixels.

The functionality is labeled as “Android desktop” and offers several interesting features such as multitasking capacities with redoneable windows, traditional desktop navigation elements, an application management system similar to an office operating system such as Windows or Chrome OS, transparent transition between mobile and desktop, etc.

The function will work when you connect the phone to an external screen using the USB-C port, but we suspect that a wireless connection will also be possible, although it is too early to say. Samsung and Motorola, for example, offer wireless connection options with their office modes. And if we were to guess, the feature will be exclusive to pixel phones before reaching other Android phones.
