Tl; DR
- The White House just threatened Apple with 25% prices on the construction plans of iPhones in India.
- At the time, it was not clear if it was only aimed at, or if the rule would have an impact on smartphones in general.
- Now the administration confirms its intention to be “fair” by penalizing Samsung and other manufacturers in a similar way.
The current American administration is determined to change the face of global manufacturing and has engaged in universally ridiculous practice of delivering prices to affect its objective. Earlier in the day, we learned that the White House threatened Apple with prices of 25% if the company did not only make Kowtow asks to move the production of iPhone in the United States – a ridiculous proposal in itself. At the time, we expressed their concern about how this threat could make snowball and end up having an impact on the manufacture of other smartphones – and Android devices in particular. And now these fears have become reality.
According to BloombergAsked about the plans of prices on non-American smartphones beyond those manufactured by Apple, the White House clarified: “It would also be Samsung and anyone who manufactures this product.”
Supposedly, these prices will have entered into force by the end of next month. This is all the details that we have so far, which is at least in accordance with the SLAPDASH approach to the administration to manage economic problems so far.
In the end, we would not retain our breath pending Android brands like Samsung significantly moving their massive production facilities towards us, even in the face of this current threat. There is a good chance that we will see either the prices increase for no particularly good reason, or the White House will again turn to its political decision.
