Thursday, guests at President Trump’s private dinner for his cryptocurrency customers included a Chinese billionaire fighting a legal action by US regulators, a lawyer for Judge Clarence Thomas and a former basketball star, according to a list of guests obtained by the New York Times and publics on social media.
The dinner, during which Mr. Trump made comments, was an extraordinary moment in which the president took advantage of his position to earn money – for his Crypto business and for his Virginia Golf Club, which hosted the event.
The guests of the event were not known publicly before, even to each other. They were only identified by the pseudonyms they used on electronic wallets where they kept their same $ Trump. Most had acquired an invitation by becoming one of the 220 best holders of this same for a certain period of time. Friday, the first 25 of them received a VIP status and offered a more intimate rally before dinner and an unofficial visit to the White House.
When they arrived at Mr. Trump’s club outside Washington on Thursday evening, the digital world had become physical. The names and contact details of the guests were delimited on the paper lists, verified by the door staff. A Times journalist examined one of these lists and used it to identify those present. Some other guests have identified on social networks. A Times journalist and photographer also saw some Trump Crypto buyers enter and get out of the White House on Friday.

Justin SunA Chinese cryptocurrency which was continued by the Securities and Exchange Commission under President Joseph R. Biden Jr. for having allegedly inflated the value of a cryptocurrency. Mr. Sun is a major investor in a separate crypto company largely belonging to a company linked to Mr. Trump, World Liberty Financial. After Mr. Trump took office, the SEC asked a judge to suspend Mr. Sun’s file. He refused to comment on Thursday evening.
