iOS 26 adds an incredible new Automix functionality to Apple Music

IOS 26 is full of new features of the musical application, including the larger animated album art, integrated management at Apple Music Replay and new pin options.

However, the new, most impressive Apple Music feature may be a new Automix. Here’s how it works.

Apple explains that automix in Apple Music uses artificial intelligence to analyze the audio features of your music to transparently create transitions between songs. The result, says Apple, is a DJ type listening experience for all Apple Music users:

Apple Music offers a high listening experience with Automix, which mixes a song in the next, just like a DJ. Using AI to analyze audio features, it manufactures unique transitions between songs with a stretch of time and correspondence to offer continuous reading and an even more transparent listening experience.

When a transition between the songs comes into play, you will see a small animation of “mix” on the game screen now in the musical application.

Automix for Apple Music in iOS 26 is activated by default. You can deactivate it by going to the Settings application:

  1. Open the Settings application
  2. Press “Applications”
  3. Choose “Music”
  4. Press “Song Transitions”

In this menu, you can choose between Automix or Standard crossfade transitions, or completely deactivate transitions.

It is also worth highlighting: the new Automix functionality in Apple Music is not an Apple Intelligence feature. This means that it is compatible with all iPhones capable of executing iOS 26, which includes the iPhone 11 and more recent.

Keep in mind that iOS 26 is still in the start of the beta developer, and things can (and will) change by present at the moment and to the public update later this fall.
