There is a lot to love in modern flip phones, but one of the biggest prints, at least for me, is the most versatile ways you can use your cameras. With more traditional candybar style smartphones, taking photos and selfies is a fairly standard experience. But thanks to the Flip Phone form factor and their constantly increasing coverage screens, this experience obtains a single upgrade.
After examining a variety of Android tilting phones in the past two years, I noticed that people are always very delighted to see how I use the cameras and the cover screen. This is one of the best ways to show what flip phones can do, so here are the ways I like to take advantage of the Flip Phone form factor to capture better photos and videos.
Take the best selfies
With traditional smartphones, taking selfies generally involves the front camera. Although this is generally good, front cameras generally have a lower quality compared to primary rear cameras. Smaller sensors and weaker resolutions can sometimes cause noisier images that are simply not so beautiful.
Flip phones always have front cameras on the screen, but to be honest, I rarely use them, and if I do it, it’s to jump on a video call. But if I ever want to take a selfie, I close the phone and turn on the camera. In this way, I can not only see myself using the cover screen, but it allows me to take selfies with the superior quality of the main camera.
What is great is that you don’t need an expensive rocking phone to get there; Even the cheapest with smaller blanket screens normally provide an overview of selfies. Of course, it’s just better with a larger cover screen so you can get the full effect.
The RAZR also has a fun photobooth function which automatically takes four photos after a short countdown. Once done, he breaks them in a fun 4×4 collage.
Capture your best angles
One of the worst things is to take your photo to take by someone else, only so that it goes out badly or show you from an annoying angle. You are more or less at the mercy of anyone who captures the photo, and you just have to hope that at least one of the voters they take out well to publish on Instagram.
With most flip phones, it becomes one thing in the past. With their large cover screens, phones like the Motorola Razr and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip allow you to activate an overview of the viewfinder. In this way, when you take a picture of someone, they can be seen and leaning for it in an appropriate manner, making sure to capture its best side.
I use it whenever I take pictures of friends, and they always comment how cool and useful that they can see themselves.
This one is for tiktkers
If you are a tiktker or a content creator, it is for you. Instead of buying a tripod or another accessory to support your phone when recording a video, you can simply take a tilting phone, put it back somewhere and fold it at an angle. With the cover screen viewfinder, you can see while you save your videos. And again, as you do not use the front camera, the quality should be much better than with a traditional smartphone.
This is one in my favorite ways to take “selfies” hands that do not look like selfies and that seem to have been taken by someone else. It works very well when associated with air gestures, which activate a short countdown when you hold your hand to the camera. And for the video, the Ultra RAZR also allows you to control the videos in the same way, allowing you to start, stop or finish video recording by showing your palm or your fist.
However, this can also be a great way to capture images not only of yourself, but also other things. Nicholas Sterich of Android Central recently took a Motorola Razr Plus 2025 with him while he paddleboarding on a lake. He put the phone in front of him on the board and started to record. This is because he was able to capture the video of his time on the lake with the Razr while his hands were concentrated on navigation in the paddleboard (with the secure razr on the board, of course).
And if you have a Galaxy Z Flip 6, you can enjoy a cool automatic zoom function. When using the cover screen viewfinder, the camera will automatically zoom in or automatically apply to the proximity of the camera, something that you will normally have to do manually.
Bring out the filmmaker in you
The recent RAZR and Galaxy Z FLIP models have introduced a fairly cool functionality that facilitates the recording of videos, especially if you hold the phone. The camcorder mode essentially transforms your phone practically into a camcorder when you fold the device to a 90 -degree angle while the camera is activated.
With the camcorder mode, the user interface is transformed so that the viewfinder is on the most front front of the device while half of the phone you hold is simplified with little or no pimples and a large touchpad. While you save, you can drag your thumb to this touchpad to zoom and go out easily. You can also make the video vertically or horizontally, depending on the type of video you take.
The advantage of the camcorder mode is that you have a much firmer handle on the phone, which allows smoother movements compared to how you would normally keep the phone. And of course, you can always use the cover screen so that any person saved can be seen in the viewfinder.
Make fun faces so that you don’t have to
Taking pictures of small children can be a challenge. It is not always easy to make them look directly in the camera, especially babies. Fortunately, it is something that Motorola thought with what he likes to call the cartoon.
This feature uses the cover screen to display a colorful series of animated faces in which it is the bike in order to attract the attention of a child. In this way, you can enter the perfect shot without having constantly having to turn behind the camera, and the faces should, hope it, make the child smile or laugh.
Fewer cameras, more versatility
One of the main complaints about FLIP phones is that they are often equipped with only two cameras. Compare this to the Android flagship products at a similar price which normally have at least three cameras, and it may seem that flip phones are not worth it for the “gadget” of a screen screen and folding cover. It couldn’t be further away from the truth.
In fact, thanks to their foldable form factor and their cover screen, Flip phones manage to make their double camera systems more versatile than traditional smartphones, and in a way that their non -folding counterparts cannot really reproduce. This is part of what makes them if unique and a key reason why you should consider buying a rocking phone.
