IOS 26 provides a battery saving powered by AI, but only for the programming of phones 15 and 16 and later

Apple’s latest iOS 26 update presents a new powerful functionality called adaptive power, an AI battery optimization tool which promises to intelligently extend the battery life. But there is a socket – this intelligent feature is exclusive to more recent iPhones that support Apple Intelligence.

AI meets battery life: what is adaptive food?

Adaptive power is designed to proactively manage energy consumption without user input. Unlike traditional low-power mode, which activates 20% battery, adaptive power supply subtly adjusts the brightness and allows the background tasks to delay slightly to reduce battery leak throughout the day. This is part of Apple’s wider movement to integrate AI deeper into operations at the system level.

Who can use it?

Only iPhones with the equipment necessary to support Apple Intelligence will have access to an adaptive power. These include:

iPhone 15 pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max

Line of the whole iPhone 16 (16, 16 pro, 16 pro max, 16th)

All models in the next iPhone 17 series, including iPhone 17 air

In particular, the standard iPhone 15 is excluded, although it is in the same generation as the 15 pro. The reason? He does not have the necessary disk AI equipment.

Why is it essential for iPhone 17 air

Depending on rumors, Apple’s thinnest phone at just 5.5 mm, iPhone 17 air can have a 2,800 mAh smaller battery. With less physical space for power, adaptive power could play a central role in maintaining conviviality all day without sacrificing performance.

When does iOS 26 arrive?

Currently in the developer Beta, iOS 26 will be launched publicly in September 2025, alongside the iPhone 17 series. While older devices (from the iPhone 11) will receive the update, only the new models will be able to take advantage of its full features fueled by AI as an adaptive Power.
