While you will have to register for the developer’s beta version to get early access, here is a quick overview of all the new features that you can expect in Apple Carplay by this fall.

1. New Carplay Design

With the redesign of iOS 26, Carplay kiss with a new look. The new design extends into the car for a coherent expressive experience while you drive. This includes icons that look great in clear or dark mode, and a more compact design for notifications so that you can always see the directions clearly on your screen.

2. Widgets

Widgets will now be available to see in Carplay for a quick way to obtain information such as weather, reminders, intelligent house information, etc. In addition, you can also see live activities on your Carplay screen, such as a friend’s flight status while you are on the way to the airport to pick them up.

3. Apple Carplay Ultra Expansion

Last month, Apple made its Apple Carplay Ultra debut, which widens Carplay’s capacities both on the touch screen of your car and on the dashboard. “It is based on Carplay’s abilities and offers the ultimate experience in the car by deeply integrating the vehicle to offer the best of the iPhone and the best of the car,” said Apple in a press release.

For the moment, technology is only available in new Aston Martin vehicle orders in the United States and Canada, but this month WWDC announced that Apple worked with other car manufacturers for wider expansion.
