The Android operating system has a number of preinstalled applications that can take up space in memory of our devices. This is why, via Android settings, you can uninstall these default applications that we often don’t even know that they are there. Google Apps and many others come from the factory on Android phones, although nobody asked and probably ever uses them. This is why it is important to keep the memory of our smartphones as free as possible for optimal performance!
Operating system
Android is a mobile operating system based on the Linux loop. This is the main operating system with Apple iOS iOS. All operating systems have a number of common functional applications, which vary in design, but serve the same objective. The notes, the litter, the agenda, the messages, the gallery, are among the most common. On the other hand, each operating system has access to its “store”, where you can access more free or paid applications. In the case of Android, it is the Google Store and in Apple, the Apple Store.
In this way, our device will have applications of our choice and those that come by default on each device. But, do we really use so many applications? What do we know what are they used for? The answer is no. Several times, these applications are hidden in secondary screens and we don’t even know that they are there.
Bloatware
The problem we can encounter, especially in devices that have an Android operating system, is that regardless of the difficulty we try, this does not allow us to delete the applications that come by default and that we do not use at all. This is how the term “bloatware” was born. Have you ever heard of it? This means that the device software is swollen. So if you can’t delete these applications, what can you do? Some of them can be deleted, while others can be deactivated. This will not only allow you to release memory space on your phone, but will also help you keep the order.
Deleting applications on Android
As already mentioned, there are preinstalled applications of the Android operating system that can be deleted. You don’t know how? Here are the simple steps:
- Access “Settings”> Applications.
- Click on “Show everything”.
- Select the application you want to delete permanently.
- Click on “Uninstall”.
A faster way is to press and maintain the icon on the main screen until different options appear. If among them, you cannot find the “uninstall” option, this means that it is not an deleted application.
Deactivate apps
If you see that the application cannot be deleted, you will need to deactivate it. Although the icon is still there, the application will stop working and will not be able to consume resources. Here are the steps to follow:
- Go to “Settings”, then “Applications” then “Show everything”.
- Press the three points (⋮) and select “Show system”.
- Find the application you want to deactivate.
- Press “Disable” and confirm.
ADB or Android Universal Debloater
If the applications deactivating option is not for you and you want to have more control over your device, there are other options. This is the case of tools such as Android Debut Bridge (ADB), with which you can uninstall the applications that Android does not want to delete. Its use is more complicated because it requires the use of a computer and to know how to execute commands. If you think this option is too difficult, there are also more accessible tools such as “Universal Android Debloater”. With this tool, you will be able to see all the applications installed on your device and the ones you can delete!
