Whatsapp’s multi-compartment functionality could finally arrive on iPhones

WhatsApp is working on a new feature for its iOS application which would allow users to manage several accounts on one device in a transparent manner. Currently in development, the functionality should include a dedicated section in the application settings, allowing users to switch between accounts without disconnecting or restarting the application.

As indicated by Wabetainfo, the functionality was identified in the beta version 25.19.10.74 and includes a “account list” page – a central center displaying all connected accounts as well as profile photos, statutes and options for managing individual accounts such as adding or deleting accounts.

According to the report, WhatsApp is working on a multi-account functionality for iOS which will allow users to switch transparently between different accounts on the same device without disconnecting or restarting the application. When a specific account is selected, the application will load single chat history, parameters and preferences of this account, such as automatic loading options, notification tones and backup parameters, creating a smoother and more personalized change of account.

In addition, WhatsApp develops a new notification system designed specifically for users who managed several accounts. The notifications of secondary accounts will display both the sender name and the associated account name, helping users to quickly identify a message from. The tapping on such a notification will directly open the relevant account and the cat, improving multitasking efficiency.

Although it is in active development, this feature is not yet available for beta-testers via the Apple Testflight program. WhatsApp has not provided an official calendar for public deployment of multi-account functionality on iOS devices.

If it is implemented, this update would represent a major upgrade for iPhone users, aligning the iOS functionality of WhatsApp with that of Android, where multi-account support is already available. It would be particularly useful for those who manage separate personal and work accounts, offering improved control and convenience in a single application interface.
