Microsoft’s sales manager Judson Althoff reorganizes his unit to make it more focused on AI, according to an internal note seen by Business Insider.
Althoff, the company’s commercial director, sent the memo to the sales unit, called Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS), one day before the company announced an important series of layoffs.
These layoffs affected many sellers in the organization of Althoff, said sources that know them. The memo did not mention the layoffs, announced from July 2 in separate communications to employees.
Althoff’s memo called for “continuous agility” and “reinvent Microsoft and McAs” to become “the border AI company” and described the five priorities of the commercial organization:
- Establish a co -pilot on each device and through each role
- Strengthen our execution M365 and D365 and penetration in all segments
- Create significant AI design victories
- Develop our cloud platform activity by migrating and modernizing workloads to Azure
- Build a cybersecurity foundation to allow a secure AI transformation
Althoff, in April, unveiled plans to halve the number of “solutions” from the sales team in the next financial year, which started on July 1.
Bi has obtained copies of the slides of Arthoff’s presentation in April, showing that the company planned to condense its six previous areas in three: AI commercial solutions, Cloud and AI platforms and safety, according to these slides.
AI Business Solutions will focus on obtaining “co -pilotes on each device to all role” and on the sale of the sequence of commercial applications of Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365 Customer Relationship Management, according to the July memo.
The Cloud & AI platform will include the Azure activities of the company, its AI “Agent Fontory” foundry and the data analysis platform. This group will focus on border AI solutions and the migration and modernization of Cloud to Azure workloads.
Security focuses on the sale of Microsoft’s safety tools. “We have spent a lot of time playing in defense in the past year, and it is now time to compete more aggressively,” said Althoff, referring to the security solutions area.
The changes are taking place as Microsoft faces growing competition for corporate customers in companies like Openai and Google. Microsoft has an advantage insofar as many large companies already use its other tools, but many employees of these companies want the best known Chatppt.
