It is difficult to forget Ross lyrics as already It’s us. At such a young age, she delivered an out -of -competition performance. For some actors, this can be a difficult act to follow in adulthood. Not for Ross. As a version of the AI of Riri Williams Best Friend, Natalie in Marvel Studios’ Iron heart Series on Disney +, Ross has been one of the many unexpected delights in the series.

Produced by Ryan Coogler, Iron heart showed a fallen hero in Riri. Her attempts to stay by all the necessary means made her expel, sending her home to Chicago without any legitimate means of going ahead with her own plans. Back home, she mixed with a group of harmful pirates led by the character of Anthony Ramos The Hood. But she must also face the hole left in her heart by losing her stepfather Gary (Chicago PD‘S LAUROYCE HAWKINS) and the best friend Natalie to violence. In her sorrow, she produces an AI version of her best friend whose loss is also felt by Xavier (Matthew Elam), Natalie’s brother and perhaps the potential love interest of Riri.
Ross spoke with The Hollywood Reporter About what makes her different from the natalia of the real natalie, how she and Thorne created their best chemistry friend, why Iron heart was an excellent follow -up of It’s usTurning in his native chicago, ignoring the backlash and if we will see more of natalia going forward.

Who is the real natalie and who is Natalie?
I think Natalie is this light that you cannot turn off even if you try. She’s there to stay, whether you like it or not. Very determined, little or not for fear, which is one of the things I loved in her. You don’t really see her shaking by anything. It takes up challenges in a transparent manner. The real natalie is a friend, nourishing, supporter. She is all she says that she is, in all her confidence, and no one can tell her different. She kisses challenges like Ai Natalie, just with this confidence that she can do everything and anything. And she’s still there for her friend Riri. So similar, but, at the same time, they have their different difficulties.
We haven’t really seen a lot of the real natalie. It was more flashbacks, but we come back to the end of the show and see that it is a little quieter than Ai Natalie, which is everywhere and a very great personality, which they both have, but it is a little more than in whom it is, and she understands that and everything that comes with it. So just different little things.
She is very intelligent. Ai Natalie does things that I don’t think she is supposed to be able to do.
Oh, absolutely. And that’s all cry in Riri because it is his creation. [AI Natalie] could not do this alone and, of course, [Riri] I did not do it on purpose, which shows you where her mind can go, the fact that she created something that she was not supposed to create who was greater than her own vision should say a lot.
Talk about how you and Dominique have built the chemistry we see, because it is quite electric.
It seems that it has been there since the jump. From our first reading of chemistry and through our rehearsals, she remained consistent. Of course, we put our efforts in adapting and having conversations and lunches, if we could. We did not always have much time to hang on, but we take a few moments to be in the presence of the other and talk about things, laugh and just chop random things. So it was quite easy and relaxing for me.
Let’s talk about what Ai Natalie represents, because in the end, it is always sorrow because, at the end of the day, she lost her friend because of armed violence.
I think one of the beautiful things of their dynamics is that Riri is forced to cry in a way. She was fleeing all this because I don’t know how long, and rightly, no one wants to relive these things to heal. But what Natalie comes with is a lot of responsibility, a lot of honesty, vulnerability and [Riri] Learn a lot throughout that, I suppose, new relationships and contrast between true natalie and natalia. It is a lot to learn between the two and how to face tragedy like that, especially when he strikes so close to his home.
Natalie’s brother, Xavier or Xay, as he is affectionately known, has a very different reaction in Ai Natalie.
I would do it too. This has a lot of sense from which I natalie comes from, but she focuses on the joy and happiness of all these memories that she obtains, not necessarily the bad part of all that these people who have been affected by these events live. It seems that it is blinded by all the positivity from these memories, so it does not give room to understand the fact that it will not be the same with the people affected. And it comes with the understanding of humans and how they work, understanding that it is not human, so it will not feel the same thing. Even if she has a feeling of emotions, the human way of things is much more difficult to understand. Technology is easy for her. It is ready for this new challenge to understand what it means to live, what is reality. It is therefore a fairly complex situation.
Talk a little about playing already It’s us For so long, then be able to enter a completely different project. How much is it rewarding? And what are the things you have learned by already playing this role?
This all Iron heart Natalie’s situation was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something completely different from already and myself. I heard a lot of horror stories about people who are on a program for so many years and not doing much outside of that, and they are sort of stuck in this cycle or that rhythm that the spectacle brings, and I didn’t want to be like that. I was trying to find something that would really get me out of this shell. I [thought] An independent film on a low budget, but Marvel came and they said they wanted me to be part of this trip. I was really excited and really frightened at the same time. It looks like nothing that I have ever done, but I wanted to check my range as an actor and as a creative to see what I can do, and it is always the journey on which I am for all that will be my next project.
And how much was it to be able to do it in a SET project in your city?
I was super excited. One of the things I dreamed of when I was little is to be able to work in downtown the city, just to do something. I didn’t care if it was an additional job on Chicago Fire. It was Hollywood for me. I loved seeing the skyscrapers while doing what I like. So, the fact that I had left Los Angeles for many years just to come back to do something on this scale is, I don’t know, I can’t explain it. It was so personal for me and for my parents. My whole family is from Chicago. It is a really cool situation that I could not find myself. It was God.
Given all reactions to Iron heart Before people even come, how gratifying it to see the outpouring of love afterwards? Knowing in your heart that you had done something spectacular, how special is it to see people feel this and give you this love?
Absolutely. There was a lot of heart behind. I knew what we put there was what we were going to withdraw, whether or not it. I just knew it was going to happen. And the fact that people say all these horrible things on this subject without it knowing yet, some people were talking about it before the release of the trailers, with the unpleasant actions of that, you have the choice of what you can believe: believe in what you have done or believe in that people say. I appreciate the love that this show obtained, but even if there was no love at the end of the day, we still did something very special. People are entitled to their own opinions, but I saw the hard work of everyone, day after day, blood, sweat and tears. There was so much passion on the part of everyone in this show and the fact that we could bring together and take everything we did, everything turned out to be beautifully.
We are sad because it seems that Natalie has left. Do you plan a Iron heart world in which we get more natalia?
I hope we will get more natalia. There is no longer to explore about it. I know with certainty that approximately five months were not enough. Selfishly, I want Natalie to come back. But we will see. I have heard nothing, so you could all discover it at the same time as me.
