  • Google has launched a new Android Canary version channel for developers to test experimental features.
  • A new “parental command” parameter appeared in Pixel devices running Canary construction.
  • The parameter can be linked to the next Android 16 “supervision” tools to manage screen time and web content for children.

We have spotted a new “parental controls” parameter in Pixel devices running the new Android Canary version of Google. It appears under the digital well-being option in the Settings menu, and we think it could be linked to the “supervision” tools that we previously spotted in the Android 16 Beta 4 version.

The new Android Canary version of Google gives developers early access to the current Android features. In this initial version of Canary, the new “Parental controls” parameter indicates the future updates of children’s safety tools on Android.

The description of the parameter can be read as follows: “digital basic rules and screen time limits”. However, the taraudir currently does not open anything in the construction of Canary. As we have said, the functionality seems similar to a “supervision” page that we previously found in Android 16 Beta 4.

In the previous beta version, the “Supervision” page included a switch to activating peripheral supervision and an option for web content filtering. Once the supervision has been activated by entering a pin on behalf of supervised, the filters could block explicit sites on Chrome and explicit content in Google Search. These tools aim to hide inappropriate documents online, although they cannot block everything.

The Android Canary channel is aimed at developers, and Google warns that these versions are not suitable for daily users. The first version is available for several pixel models, including the Pixel 9 series, Pixel Pold and Pixel Tablet.
