Meta acquired Play aiA startup that uses AI to generate voices with a human consonance.
A Meta spokesperson confirmed the acquisition, According to BloombergWho also reports that an internal memo said that “the whole Playai team” will join the company next week. (Techcrunch also contacted Meta for confirmation.)
Meta’s memo would have declared that “Playai’s work in the creation of natural voice, as well as a platform for the creation of easy voice, are an excellent match for our work and our roadmap, through the characters of AI, Meta IA, portable devices and the creation of audio content.”
The company has made major investments in AI, including the aggressive recruitment of Openai and an agreement with the AI scale which saw the CEO of the company Alexandr Wang will join Meta to lead a new group focused on super -sakelligence.
The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. Bloomberg had previously pointed out that the two companies were in acquisition talks.
