Test different looks for the beta version of the Google Chrome application for AndroidLooking for the best place to put a shortcut to its AI mode. Announced earlier this year at Google E / S, AI mode is designed to help Google meet the challenges of its dominant research activity from AI applications. The AI mode prevents those who have a complicated research request to have to go through several search results to obtain the information they want.
To help push AI mode, Google has redesigned the search bar on its applications. Indeed, ideally, if you have a question you need, the search bar is where you would go to help you get your answer. Google is now looking to see how it can better place AI mode in front of the eyeballs by looking at the Android version of Chrome. Mishaal Rahman wrote that he had found a new look for the Chrome search bar when he opened a beta version of the mobile browser on a Android phone. Google had moved the shortcut of the lens and the vocal research icons of the search bar and placed them under the bar.

Google did so so that he could move a shortcut icon for the AI mode directly in the search bar, placing it just in front of chrome users. It is the digital equivalent to follow this old real estate idiom, “location, location, location”. In addition, the old “G” logo is placed on the left of the search bar, and the old phrase “Research or URL of type” written in the search bar is replaced by “Search Google or URL type”.

Google has also tested another look of the Chrome search bar. On this variant of the tested design, the Google lens and the vocal research shortcut icons found under the search bar had another added shortcut, this for incognito mode. You could call it the “Heisenberg” icon for its resemblance to Walter White Break the bad. In this version, the “G” logo is absent from the search bar, and the wording used inside the bar is the text previously used.
The two different looks for the Chrome search bar were found in the beta version 139.0.7258.32 of the Chrome browser for Android. No search bar tested with a shortcut in AI mode appears on my Pixel 6 Pro Running Android 16 QPR1 Beta 3. In my case, I only perform version 138 of the Chrome application which explains why I do not see the search bars tested by Google.
Finally, Google will replace the current search bar on the Chrome application for Android, because the new thing he selects should lead more users in IA mode and help Google defend his research bar activity to be attacked by what the company considers as IA interlopers.
