A week with the best small Android tablet you can buy, and I am sold

After a few months of harassment, Lenovo finally sent their Tab Gen 3 of the small legion but off about a week ago. We quickly turned on the cameras and made a unpacking with that because I was so excited to see what a life would look like with a small and powerful tablet.

As a somewhat anticipble person, the idea of having a flagship device in an 8.8 -inch shape factor seemed interesting. In addition to the fact that I am currently testing the smallest Pixel 9a, it was the perfect time to see if the configuration of the phone / tablet as a daily transport has meaning when the tablet is smaller but always incredibly capable. And, so far, it was quite incredible.

Some frustrations

Now that doesn’t mean things are perfect. A few times, I forgot to hang the Legion tab from my office or, one day like today, I forgot to catch it from the car when I arrived at the office. I did not wear anything apart from my phone in my pocket and my backpack (with a chrome or two inside) on my back for many years, so I expected that it happens several times along the way.

My main worsening with this tablet is the skin of the user interface that Lenovo uses. It’s just not good. It is quite close to store Android 14, while missing a lot of things that make Android brilliant from a point of view of the user interface and fluidity on something like the Pixel tablet. At this stage, nothing in the Android world is as fun as the user interface of the pixels, but Lenovo could do better than that. The notifications seem strange with a strange spacing between the message and the logo / avatar, the lock screen is incredibly limited, and the disposition of the home screen is a superb 4 × 5 or 4 × 6, so obtain files or widgets positioned and resized so as not to look clumsy is difficult.

So many reversals

But these are really small reproaches. After all, it is not my phone that I will use all day. It’s a tablet and it’s a secondary screen. Once my head has entered this space, I really (REALLY) I appreciated the fact that the Legion 3 tab around.

For example, instead of continuously trying to reflect the disposition of the home screen of my phone on this tablet, I got rid of most of the widgets that I use for glancable information throughout the day and I minimize things in a clock, weather and broad folders for quick access to applications to things I do most on this device: video, play.

After making this change, deactivating the elevator to awaken (again, this is not the device that I have to have frozen information), and using this thing for what I like, I really came to wear a second device with me most of the places.

Above all, however, I like this tablet as a companion appearance that I can use to complete other things I do. The other day, I had the game Cubs streaming on the sofa next to me while playing Mario Kart 8 with my son. The display is large enough to see the action and the speakers are simply incredible on this tablet. I could keep an eye on the game between the races and not feel the need to take out a chromebook or exchange entries on the TV.

And then there is the game aspect. It’s a beast, and it’s the perfect size for everything you want to play. Many games become a little strange on screens over 10 inch, but this 8.8 -inch screen and its silky cooling rate of 165 Hz are perfect. You can easily see more things, but commands are also realistic and in the range. From Mobile PUBG to Fortnite via Golden Tee, mobile games are an absolute explosion with the Legion 3 tab, and I played much more often with it.

And although browsing the web and the Gmail to go are also both on this display, My other favorite thing is to read books. It’s just a large size for reading with one hand and it looks more like a book than a large smartphone. Of course, I have read countless books on smartphone screens, but I always like to read something a little closer to a real book in size.

I need a little more time to set up a complete criticism, but I can tell you that I really appreciate this smaller tablet experience. If you are looking for an office replacement or something from working, I don’t know it’s your device. But if you want a content consumption monster, I don’t know much that do it better than this Gen 3 Legion tab. When used for good things, it gets a lot at a really solid price (often at reduced prices).
