Apple has published its fifth update of the beta firmware for AirPods, offering testers an overview of the upcoming features expected in iOS 26. Update, designated Build 8A5343A, is currently available for AirPod Pro 2 and AirPods 4 models.
This version represents the second update of the firmware since Apple launched its public beta program for AirPods earlier this summer. The beta program rationalizes the installation process for users wishing to test the versions of pre-liberation firmware. The previous version, 8a5324b, was published in July.
The new software has several iOS 26 features for evaluation. The key characteristics include an automatic audio break when the user falls asleep, aimed at keeping the battery life and avoiding disturbances. Another notable feature is studio quality audio recording, potentially improving the audio loyalty of the records made using AirPods. The beta version also explores the functionality of the use of AirPods as a remote shutter, offering users an option of hands -free photography. Other improvements include a more fluid automatic switching when integrated in Carplay, which seeks to provide a more transparent user experience. Finally, the update aims to improve the quality of the voice during telephone calls, potentially reduce background noise and increase clarity.
Currently, these modifications are exclusively available for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4. Users interested in participating in the Beta program can register via the Apple AirPods developer or the public beta program. Both programs are free and offer a simplified update process compared to previous beta versions.
