With Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2, it is slightly easier to manage current calls, including Gemini Live, from the status bar chip.
Previously, press the pill -shaped chip during a call would open the responsible application. With Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 (via Android authority), this action opens (slides down) the current call notification.
As such, you can hang up, adjust the speaker and mute. This is somewhat similar to how Android 15 QPR1 has introduced a prominent status bar chip for casting, recording and screen sharing. This trio offers more fluid animation for the dialog box that opens in the center of your screen.
What you get with the call chip is the same notification as evidenced by the possibility of developing / shrinking with the chevron corner. It is the same behavior as live updates.
This new behavior of the call chip in Android 16 QPR1 also applies to Gemini Live to hang up or hold quickly. With this last action, you can resume a session with two fast taps.
