With Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2, the pixel launcher’s search bar obtains a redesign to match the Widget of the updated home screen of the Google application.
This overhaul essentially shrinks the old search bar (with the ‘G’ logo, the vocal search microphone and the Google Lens shortcut) to make room for an icon in AI mode on the right. The magnifying glass with Sparkle uses the four Google colors, while this separation is much better than having three icons side by side.
Everything is placed in a container, with the search bar and the circular button with a darker background. This new design does not appear at the top of the application launcher.

Since AI mode is not yet widely available, I expect Google to offer a version of this overhaul that simply places the search bar in a container.
Meanwhile, compared to the widget of the Google application search bar, there is currently no way to deactivate or modify the shortcut. The Google application offers translate (text), research of songs, weather, translate (camera), sports, dictionary, homework, financing, recorded and news. They open the goal and other parts of the Google application, with a fairly practical search for songs.
Until now, we just see this overhaul of the pixel launcher search bar on a device running Android 16 QPR1 BETA 2 after an update on the server side. The new G Gradient G logo was immediately deployed yesterday.
