Android 16 Update release date, time, size, requirements, eligible devices, new features and more: everything you need to know

Android 16 is released on June 11 with a new user interface, smarter features, Gemini AI and better security.

Android users, prepare while Android 16 officially publishes tomorrow, June 11, wrapped with exciting changes. From a new fresh design to stronger safety and smarter features, this update is one of the most complete Google to date. The stable version will first take place on Pixel phones, with other popular brands like Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi to follow shortly after.

After months of testing via developers and beta overviews, Google has confirmed that the stable version of Android 16 will start on June 11, 2025. The update will first be available for certain pixel devices and will then gradually reach other compatible smartphones. As with past updates, deployment will occur in phases, so the exact timing can vary depending on the brand and the region.

Expressive 3 IU hardware

Android 16 brings a new visual experience with more vibrant colors, cleaner fonts, smoother animations and themes based on wallpaper that adapt in real time. Although some of these design elements can arrive later this year, the foundation is being posted now.

Rédée Rédinée parameters

The quick parameter panel obtains a major upgrade. Users can now resize the tiles, reorganize them more easily using drag and drop and take advantage of improved haptic comments and entertainment.

Live activities

Android adds live activities to the lock screen, the status bar and the notification shade. This allows you to follow things such as deliveries, arrivals to be covered or navigation updates in real time – similar to what iPhone users already appreciate.

Battery health surveillance

A new feature allows users to check the capacity and health of the battery, which facilitates knowledge of the replacement of the battery.

Safety improvements

Android 16 includes several new tools to protect your phone if it is never lost or stolen. Features such as the factory reset protection loop, offline locking, blocking USB ports and detection of the scam aim to make the devices more secure than ever.

Google replaces the assistant with Gemini AI, which provides more advanced and complementary vocal interactions and smarter suggestions in the system.

Here are some of the experienced smartphones to get the update:

  • Google Pixel: Pixel 10, 9, 8 series, pixel 9a / 8a, Pixel 7 and 6 series, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet
  • Samsung: Galaxy S25 – S22, Z Fold 6–4, Z Flip 6–4, Galaxy A73 – A24, M55 – M33, F55 – F34

  • Nothing: Telephone (1), (2), (2a), (3a) and pro models

More and more brands and models should be added over time.
