Many people use Android Auto daily, and if something goes wrong, it can affect many users. This appears to be the case currently, according to user reports. Several users say that the Android Auto 15.2 update has ruined the Quick Controls feature.
Are you having trouble with quick controls on Android Auto? You are far from alone
Quick Controls has long been a handy feature for Android Auto users, allowing them to access media playback and navigation without switching apps. However, with the Android Auto 15.2 update, the feature does not work on certain display configurations.
Users with vertically oriented taskbars have noticed that toggling Quick Controls no longer moves the bar to the bottom of the screen like before. On Reddit And Google forums (via 9to5Google), users report that the issue first appeared in late September and spread as the update rolled out.
Interestingly, Quick Controls still appear to work on horizontal displays, suggesting that Google hasn’t removed them entirely. It’s still unclear whether this is an intentional change or an unintentional bug, and the company has yet to comment.
There is currently no reliable workaround. Some users claim that clearing the Android Auto app data and reconnecting fixes the issue temporarily, but the problem tends to reappear soon after. We’ll keep you posted when there is a fix or any official word from Google. Until then, stay tuned.
