Samsung against Pixel takes another twist
Android is attacked – again. Google confirmed that another active feat has been Correction of the security version of this monthWith a vulnerability discovered by Meta earlier in the year, caught attacking Android phones. Update as soon as possible.
Meta Described CVE-2025-27363 is a vulnerability of memory “out of limits” in the freetype police rendering software which “can lead to arbitrary code execution” and which “may have been exploited in the wild”. This is clearly the case.
As always, more details are limited at the moment, giving users time to patcher. Although Meta’s disclosure took place in March, and therefore the moment of this update is interesting. Google says that “source code corrections for these problems will be published in the Android Open Source (AOSP) project benchmark in the next 48 hours.”
Google also says that the “most serious” problem corrected this month “is a vulnerability of high security in the system component”, probably CVE-2025-27363, which “could lead to the execution of the local code without any necessary additional execution privilege”.
Usually, I would note that the pixels will obtain these critical updates almost immediately, with Samsungs while waiting for the same thing. The monthly version of the security of the galaxy-maker is not yet available, and it is therefore not yet clear whether this is included or not.
But the torsion with this vulnerability is that it has been fixed for Android 13 and 14 but not 15. This means that it is already fixed or does not apply to the more recent SG. As such, most pixel owners do not have to worry because they will have already upgraded to Android 15. Although Samsung has finally published its UI firmware to bring Android 15 on its phones, millions of eligible users must still upgrade and this process is in progress.
As such, these galaxy owners always perform an affected version of the operating system and this last open vulnerability is bad news for users in particular, given the Android 15 delays and the Android exploits track triggering warnings and updates this year.
Google’s beta software for Android 16 suggests more upcoming security improvements, including its rented advanced mode of protection that will better secure telephones against attacks. This is well timed, given an almost monthly rate of corrected exploits.
The owners of Samsung should go to an IU 7 / Android 15 as soon as it is available, since it brings a raft of other upgrades of security and confidentiality. And whatever the version of Android you are running, be sure to apply the May’s safety update.
