Apple could actually deliver my only “iOS 19” functionality request

I love the scoop of Mark Gurman that Apple plans to present iOS 26, not iOS 19, alongside version 26 of MacOS, Visionos, Watchos and Tvos. It is a different flavor of the same solution that I thought of a few months ago, but thought could be too much to share.

The problem is obvious: the version numbers are not.

Example:

  • iOS 18
  • iPados 18
  • TVOS 18
  • Watchos… don’t like it. I would need to look for this to be sure. 11, right? Series version plus one? What formula.
  • MacOS… Same affair. Sequoia, however, right?
  • Visionos 2 (nailed another!)

Obviously, I am able to remember iOS as well as what systems use the iOS version number. The Apple’s rumor system by attributing 26 to each system will work well for me.

I had a similar idea but I never shared it because it made more sense for next year.

I thought that Apple had to switch all systems to the iOS number next year, while IOS 20 would have been the new version. Why not this year? Twenty sounds fresher and less random than nineteen.

When I played with this idea, my next thought was: “Wait, why wait? Apple could simply jump 19, iPhone 9 – and jump to 20 this year!”

It was then that I realized that I would probably lose the public and my colleagues.

“Let me be right.” Do you want to jump for years of macOS, Watchos and Visionos version numbers and go to 20? And just to have the same version numbers this year, do you want to save iOS 19? And you want other people to also think of this thought? ”

I even had a concept title: my only request for functionality iOS 19 is that Apple calls it iOS 20. Amusing!

I thought the solution was too stupid, unlikely and better saved to float next year.

If Apple is What Mark Gurman reports is planned, however, it beats my reflection process anyway. Carefully reflecting the coming year in which the versions of the operating system will be the most common is an even more expensive way to remember.

No need to work since 2013 being mainly iOS 6, the version that was up to date when I started 9TO5mac, thinking of which year has seen which iOS version.
