Expected Features of Apple iOS 26.1
The iOS 26.1 update is said to include several notable upgrades in customization, accessibility, and security. Among the key features is a new Liquid Glass interface toggle, giving users two style options under Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass — “Clear” for a transparent look and “Tint” for a softer, opaque finish.
The update would also bring a lock screen toggle to disable the camera swipe gesture, allowing users to prevent accidental camera launches by disabling the “Lock screen swipe to open camera” feature in Settings.
Another handy upgrade could be to the Clock app, where a new “slide to stop” gesture for alarms and timers will replace the single stop button. This change aims to reduce involuntary layoffs, a common issue reported in previous versions of iOS 26.
In the Apple Music app, users will soon be able to switch between songs directly in the player interface, making music navigation smoother and more intuitive.
A major branding update accompanies the release as Apple TV+ shifts to “Apple TV”, with a redesigned and more colorful app icon to align with the company’s refreshed identity. Additionally, Apple Intelligence will expand to support more languages, including Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Traditional), and Vietnamese, expanding accessibility for users around the world. Chinese, improving real-time translation on AirPods 4 (ANC), AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Pro 3.
Finally, iOS 26.1 may introduce a background security enhancement feature under Settings > Privacy & Security, which automatically installs security patches between major updates. This system will replace the old Rapid Security Response method, ensuring faster protection against evolving online threats.
