Just on the signal, Apple’s latest operating system, iOS 26, has arrived. Is it worth it to download or should you hold back at the moment? Another version, iOS 18.7, is also available for those who wish to retain iOS 26 for the moment.
This message has the first reflections on the new version and I will update this post during the coming week and will make a final evaluation on Wednesday, September 24.
Who is it and how to get it?
Apple iOS 26 works for all 2019 iPhones. These are iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 1 Pro Max models and each phone since. This means the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 series and so on to the iPhone 16 series, as well as the second and third generation iPhone SE models as well as the iPhone 16th. And, of course, the iPhone 17 series which launched on September 19.
To update, go to the iPhone settings application, select General, then update of the software. Then choose Download and install, and the software will download from there. This is a big download, more than 14 GB, so it takes a little time.

Apple iOS security 26
There are, as Apple says in its notes, “important security fixes” and has listed 26 numbers in a Safety content note. These range from Apple Neural Engine, via the nucleus, the notes, the safari, the Siri and the spellief (yes, really) to webkit. There are four webkit problems.
Initial reactions
The new software has been controversial, for sure, but so far it seems to be on aesthetic lands, not that it destroys your iPhone. There are a lot of discussions in ether on liquid glass, updating the signature design, with Loud Voices Pro and Con. Some slow download times have put several redditors, with complaints that things seemed to slow down, and not accelerate, the longer they were waiting. Since the first version, this seems to have settled.

Since most complaints relate to design or download, and less on installation problems, the first reaction is that it is a safe update to install.
