Apple Music users have just received a ton of new features in iOS 26 last week, but it seems that Apple has even more in preparation for its next big iPhone update. iOS 26.1 has arrived in beta today and has a new scanning gesture to switch between the pieces of the Apple musical application.
IOS 26.1 beta allows you to slide on miniplayer to change the slopes
Apple’s musical application in iOS 26 has changed the bottom of the screen where the mini-glayer lives.
Now when the tab bar is collapsed, it is merged into a single line with miniplayer and search controls.
But despite the miniplayer which is now smaller most of the time inside the musical application, it wins a new feature in iOS 26.1.
New in iOS 26.1 Beta 1, you can now slide left and right on the miniplayer to change tracks.
It works, whether the miniplayer is completely extended above the tab bar or shrinking next to the tab bar.
The new scanning gesture feels good, helped by beautiful liquid glass effects and a haptic feedback tap when the track is modified.
Slide the progress from left to the next song in your queue, while the sliding on the right dates back to the previous track.
After very limited tests, the gesture has become second nature for me. It is an excellent alternative to the use of standard search controls on the game screen now.
