It’s been a decade since Apple made its debut on Apple MusicWhich also means that I have started paying for a music service subscription for ten years. Meanwhile, Apple Music suffered some overhaul. However, the most important change was that Apple Music slowly replaced iTunes, the iTunes Store and even the iTunes music service (which is still available in 2025!).
After all these years of support for Apple’s music service, there are still problems that continue to frustrate me as well as users and other users. Even with the next iOS 26 update and several new adjustments and features, Apple’s service always disappoints me in a few key ways.
These are the seven Apple Music music problems that I hope that Apple will finally summarize:
Any new Mac application: Many Spotify subscribers keep the service because their main way to listen to songs is via the office application. Apple Music on Mac is bad. It’s not iTunes, but everything reminds me of Apple’s all-in-one application to synchronize my iPod with songs, films, shows, ringtones, books and more. Even with MacOS Tahoe and the liquid glass design, you will always find a very similar experience on MacOS Sequoia, which is boring.
Autonomous application: Apple must delete Apple music from the operating system update cycle. This will allow the company to correct the bugs, to add features and more, at any time. This makes Spotify and other services better, because new features are still in the process of adding.
Song count: Apple has just released a Replay all time Reading list showing the songs that I have listened to in the last decade on Apple Music. But the list was significantly different from my “25 more played” and the best pieces of Songs tongue. This is the confusing part: three sections of the same application show different songs “Most Play”. In addition to that, Apple still cannot combine the number of games for singles and album versions of the same song, so the songs that I listened to the most do not rank correctly because they are treated as separate entries.
Double albums: It is a very interesting bug that occurs from time to time. Sometimes, only one song from an album will be available as a different disc. Some songs will also be somehow divided into two or three different albums. An option is to delete them all, which also deletes them from my reading lists. I can also wait and pray. For a streaming music service, Apple Music should be faster to correct strange bugs that have obtained users for years.
Apple Music replay always stinks: Apple rethinks the Apple Music rereading experience with iOS 26. However, it is still not an ideal experience. For example, on July 1, I still couldn’t access my June replay. While Spotify offers my monthly summary at the end of the month, I have to wait a few days for Apple to process the data. For what?
Nonexistent social experiences: Apple Music offers public profiles and shared reading lists, but they are so hidden that most users are not aware that they can discover popular friends and artists on the platform. One of the features that I particularly appreciate about Spotify is the possibility of seeing what your friends listen to on the web or the Mac application. This feature makes me feel closer to my friends and allows me to engage conversations on the artists they love. It is 2025 – Apple must put social experiences on the platform before and at the center.
Mix the reading lists: Speaking of social experiences, would that kill Apple to let me team up with a friend to create a shared playlist? Imagine being able to do it too with artists, which would show that they really use the platform themselves.
