Apple wants a larger place in your home, according to a report Wednesday of Bloomberg Mark Gurman. Although you can consider Apple mainly as the manufacturer of the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, MacBook, Airpods and more, the technology giant hopes to use artificial intelligence to sell you a certain number of new intelligent home devices. These devices may include a table robot, home safety cameras and an intelligent speaker with a screen.
An Apple representative did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
Table robot
According to Bloomberg, in the center of the plan is the table robot, which would take place in 2027. Bloomberg – and Cnet – have already reported this plan. At that time, the company would have had two concepts in mind: a robot that can move in the house and a robotic device on the table.
Now Bloomberg says that the robot “will have a realistic version of Siri and the possibility of engaging with users throughout the day”. It would look like an iPad mounted on a mobile member who can reposition himself to face.
The former editor-in-chief of CNET, Lisa Eaddicicco, wrote in 2024 that “perhaps the biggest challenge for a domestic robot is that the market is not proven”. We have all seen the maid Rosie robot on the old cartoon of the jets, but do we really need or want a robotic help in our homes?
Autonomous intelligent display
Another element on which Apple would work is essentially an intelligent speaker with a screen. Bloomberg calls this a “stripped version of the robot”.
He will not have robotic or conversational siri, but he should be able to do things such as reading music, notes, control of home devices and videoconference. Bloomberg says that he will perform a new operating system called charismatic.
Home security cameras
Home security cameras are becoming more and more popular, and Apple also wants to move into this area. The company will make cameras that anchor an Apple security system, the report indicates.
