Apple is preparing to publish iOS 18.7 as a final development for older iPhones in September before its next launch of the major operating system, as indicated by Macrumors.
This update will be deployed for models that will not support iOS 26, and should focus on fixing security vulnerabilities and ironing persistent problems rather than the introduction of new features.
In particular the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR will probably receive iOS 18.7 as the last official software update because they do not meet the system requirements for iOS 26.
Meanwhile, iOS 26 is approaching its beginnings. After many beta tests, Apple should put this major update available to users in mid-September. The press release probably coincided with Awe Droping’s “AWE Droping” event on September 9, where new iPhone models are also planned.
IOS 26 provides a spectacular overhaul and new features. The new liquid glass interface introduces translucent visuals with a feeling of depth and movement echoing the first versions of iOS, while locking and house screens gain dynamic elements and improved layout flexibility. It will also inaugurate advanced safety, AI improvements and new user interface features on supported devices.
This means that even if iOS 18.7 plays a crucial role in keeping iPhones safer and functional, users with more recent phones will soon benefit from a daring jump in the user experience under iOS 26.
