Apple to rename the iPhone software to iOS 26 in 2025 WWDC: what to expect

New Delhi: In a movement aimed at simplifying its product range and improving user clarity, Apple provides a major brand change in its operating systems. According to Bloomberg reports, the technology giant is expected to announce the name change in its next iPhone software to iOS 26 – in front of iOS 19. The change should be officially revealed at the annual conference of Apple developers, WWDC 2025, June 9.

A unified name strategy between devices

The change reflects a broader Apple initiative to align all its operating systems with the calendar year in which they are mainly used: the implementation of strategies observed in industries such as automotive manufacturing. Alongside iOS 26, Apple should deploy iPados 26, MacOS 26, Watchos 26, TVOS 26 and Visionos 26.

This rationalized approach will help eliminate confusion around version numbers, especially since Apple’s ecosystem is becoming more and more interconnected.

A daring visual overhaul inspired by visionos

Beyond the denomination agreement, iOS 26 should introduce a significant interface overhaul, borrow visual clues from Visionos, the operating system that feeds the Apple Vision Pro. The update should appear:

Transparency effects in layers

Floating navigation elements

Curved and tactile user interface components

Dynamic interface behavior responding to the movement of the device

Apple’s main applications – including messages and camera – are also supposed to obtain an updated look with cleaner arrangements and more immersive content display.

Towards an experience of the coherent ecosystem

The future changes indicate the long -term strategy of Apple to provide a unified and futuristic visual language on all its devices. By aligning not only the features, but also the name and the design, Apple aims to improve consistency between the devices – by making transitions between the iPhone, the iPad, the Mac and the Profr and more intuitive vision.

If it is confirmed at WWDC 2025, this transition to iOS 26 and the wider redesign could mark one of the most important software transformations of Apple for years.
