We are entering the past few weeks before WWDC 2025, and if we believe the reports, it will be a monumental conference on Apple.
Earlier this year, Mark Gurman de Bloomberg reported that the main Apple, iOS and MacOS operating systems would receive a spectacular overhaul. Now he has a new article saying that the refreshment of the interface is coming to all Apple operating systems which includes iPados, Tvos and Watchos. Visionos, the software that runs the vision pro helmet, will probably receive a smaller update.
The update of the iOS 19 interface, allegedly named Solarium, is supposed to be based on translucent visual elements in Visionos. It seems that Apple wishes to redo all its operating systems as part of a theme for 2025 of “coherence and unification”.
If the IOS 19 redesign arrives, it would be the largest design update of iPhone software since iOS 7 in 2013.
What this means for your I-Disvices in a broad sense is a more translucent background and potentially circular application icons.
Beyond this visual-inspired look, this also means more unified provisions and standardized menus. For example, the appearance of the parameter icon should make the same menu appear on each device you use.
About at the same time when Gurman initially pointed out the iOS overhaul, YouTuber Jon Prosser revealed a potential look at the new iOS 19 look, including a floating translucent navigation menu. Although Gurman has submitted this writing leak on social networks, “iOS 19 Floating images are not representative of what we will see at WWDC.”
As Gurman notes, with competitors focusing on AI, Apple “focuses on the more elegant meeting the approach of the traditional operating system”.
And Apple Intelligence?
Apple apparently fell on her face with regard to artificial intelligence. However, consumers feel the recent heavy push in AI by apparently all the technological companies of Google and Microsoft in Openai and Grok, the concept is here and will not disappear soon.
At the time of writing these lines, the deployment of Apple AI continues, although the AI Apple Siri’s vocal assistant has not been part of iOS 18 – and they will probably not be before the arrival of iOS later this year. Apple officially said that Siri 2.0 had been delayed, perhaps in 2026.
Gurman postulates that the recent OPENAI acquisition from Jony IVE will exert pressure on Apple to innovate and catch up with AI improvements to other devices.
Although this is possible over the next two years, Apple could start to return to innovation / to catch up with prominence with Apple smart glasses advertisements, a foldable iPhone and potentially an intelligent domestic device in Siri, although it all depends on Siri that works properly.
Gurman says that Apple will not focus on the Apple Intelligence during the WWDC 2025.
However, we expect some AI features to be highlighted in a few weeks, including awareness awareness and tools intended for developers in order to allow them to incorporate AI tools into their applications.
With Apple who opened Apple Intelligence to third-party models and developers, this could help accelerate development and make Apple an AI platform offering more than other companies.
We will learn more about Solarium and on the new design of Apple operating systems at the world conference of developers which takes place from June 9 to 13 of this year. The event starts this Monday with a Keynote where we expect to see the IOS 19 overview.
