- Apple could offer a battery management mode powered by AI as part of the iOS 19 update.
- This occurs years after Android has made its debut on an adaptive battery functionality, which learns the habits of use of your application to reduce energy consumption.
- The iOS 19 locking screen could also display the remaining time up to a full load, which is another basic Android feature.
Not all the performance of the world does not mean much if your smartphone has trouble spending the day. Consequently, we have seen notable battery innovations over the years, and it now seems that Apple could copy a battery feature seen first on Android phones.
Bloomberg reports that Apple works on a “battery management mode fueled by AI” for its next iOS 19 update. The point of sale reports that this feature, which will be part of the Apple Intelligence Suite of Capacities, will analyze how someone uses their iPhone and will make energy saving.
Apple apparently created the functionality based on battery data collected from users. These data have been used to understand trends and predict when it should reduce power for specific applications or features.
Not the only Android-first functionality to come on iPhones
If it seems familiar, it is because Android has offered its adaptive battery function from Android 9 Pie from 2018. Google has teamed up with Deepmind for functionality, which uses AI to “prioritize the system resources for applications that the user is most concerned”. The adaptive battery also learns the habits of using your application over time to refine the supply consumption of your phone. We have also seen Android OEM implement similar battery management features using automatic learning or algorithms over the years.
Bloomberg Add that the iOS 19 locking screen will finally display the time remaining up to a full load. The Android phones of Samsung and Google have offered this feature for ages now, so this is another area where Apple plays catching up with its Android rivals.
