Chrome for Android changes tab group commands

The adjustments of the groups of tabs in Chrome for Android continue today with Google reorganizing the lower control strip.

The chevron oriented upwards which shows all the pages of the Tab group as a grid (which also sees some adjustments) was moved from left to right.

As such, favicons for open pages are the first thing that appears in the bar, which I can appreciate. However, the “more” icon is no longer at the end. Instead, it appears (after a gap) to the right of the last icon on the circular page. The new tab button losing its fixed position is rather unhappy for muscle memory.

If you have a lot of open pages, the most is moored with the chevron.

Old vs new

This tweak tab group has been deployed in recent weeks, but we now see it widely available with Chrome 138. Force Stop the browser of the application information to load these adjustments.

This change follows how “Open in New Tab in Group” was returned to the long pressure menu.
