Much of the Internet economy is built on clicks. Google’s new functionality of IA’s IA previews can change this.

Google’s overview can provide your question an answer before clicking on a single link. But that represents bad news for publishers who write the items that feed these summaries in AI: their commercial models depend on visits to the site to sell ads. And some small publishers have already been skyrocketing as the use of AI summaries increases.

“The event at the extinction is already there,” said Helen Havlak, publisher of the Technical Site The Verge.
